The Hillsboro Illuminated Christmas Parade, hosted by the Hillsboro Uptown Business Association (HUBA) and the City of Hillsboro, will be held on Saturday, December 11 at 6 p.m.
According to Jennifer Cundiff-Maurer, HUBA Board Member and Parade Coordinator, “Christmas Toyland” is the theme for this year’s parade.
She said the parade will be similar to previous years, but there will be a new route. “He’ll pass Speedway and turn left where Webster was before and head downtown and turn left past NCB, then turn left again into downtown on West Main Street and come back down,” she said. said.
“We are going to change the course as we noticed that some walkers were having trouble climbing the big hill in front of Great Scott which put a long gap between a lot of our tanks,” she said.
Tom (a former Highland County Sheriff) and Maggie Horst will be the grand marshals of the parade.
Snowflake Pageant Queen Isabella Racine will be the queen of the parade. Snowflake contest winners Presley Haynes, Boston Nartker, Lynley Bailey, Knox Haynes, Braylah Wells, Gage Haynes and Saige Igo will also be the parade leaders.
Santa Claus, of course, will be there. Highland County Sheriff Donne Barrera and local first responders, such as law enforcement and firefighters, will participate.
“We’re still getting a lot of applicants and we’ll also have a lot of local businesses involved,” Cundiff-Maurer said. “I hope they will all come and join us in the upscale neighborhoods for all the Christmas activities, and if anyone is interested in having a float, we would love to have them – the bigger the better because every year, we are trying to make it bigger, ”she said.
