Ainsley Maitland Niles joined West Brom on loan until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old has fallen out of favor this season, despite playing a key role in our FA Cup success in August.
Dropping a rear wing system played a role, and its most recent display, when it was deployed at left-back against Crystal Palace, was unconvincing.
His future has been uncertain for some time, with Wolves making an offer to bring him to Molineux over the summer, but Arsenal viewed the offer of under £ 15million unacceptable at the time.
Ainsley has made 21 of his 121 Arsenal appearances this season, providing two assists in this campaign, but having recently been part of the full England squad he was eager to play ahead of the European Championships this summer. .
He will have it now under Sam Allardyce [sorry for the disturbing image – please don’t draw this @cantdrawarsenal] – as he tries to help West Brom avoid relegation. It is understood that there is no option to buy, so he will return to the Emirates at the end of the season.
Speaking about the move, Technical Director Edu said: “We wish Ainsley the best of luck on his move to West Bromwich Albion. He deserves the opportunity to play regularly which he needs for his club and his international career ambitions and we fully support him with that.
Good luck to him at The Hawthorns – and if they need an ice cold penalty taker, they should look no further than the Arsenal man.
