Decatur students find a unique way to get to the ball

SILOAM SPRINGS – Some high school students are finding unique and innovative ways to get to prom in style. Some arrive in limousines, some in lemons, some arrive in horse-drawn carriages. A few more adventurous arrived from above via parachutes. But an adventurous group of students from Decatur High School arrived in a very unique mode of transportation.

At around 7 p.m., a truck pulling a very long horse trailer pulled into the parking lot of American Legion Hall in downtown Siloam Springs on Friday evening, carrying rather unconventional cargo. A driver and his assistant got out of the truck and walked to the rear door of the trailer. After opening the door, the couple dropped the loading ramp to reveal the cargo from the trailer that had loaded about a block away.

Standing in the doorway stood Kaitlyn Funk, clad in a beautiful ball gown, and her date, Tyler Burchette. They walked down the ramp as family and friends took photos with their iPhones and digital cameras.

Behind Burchette and Funk, Skyler Bell and dating Randall Fipps, followed by Sister Annabelle Bell and Landon Watson.

Together, these students have arrived in an innovative way that few have dared to try. The tandem jump parachute still reigns as one of the best ways to spend prom night, but coming in tow on horseback certainly ranks second.
