Kilmokea House and Gardens wins Georgina Campbell Award

Kilmokea Country House & Heritage Gardens won a Georgina Campbell National Award.

The Hewlett family and the on-site team celebrated their achievement on Sunday, briefly, on the lawn with their staff giving them freebies to thank them for all of their hard work which helped them secure this award.
Winner in the Best Gardens and Garden Stays category, Mark and Emma Hewlett’s peaceful Georgian country house – set in seven acres of heritage gardens – is described as a family home rather than a hotel, with rooms elegantly furnished in the main house and a beautiful

independent suites in an adjoining shed, which allow greater independence.

“Organic alfresco meals are offered for lunch in their well-known cafe, and an evening set menu for house guests in the Peacock Dining Room.

“A ‘kitchen garden design’ feeds the kitchens and Mark and Emma have invested in quality outdoor furniture, so customers can eat outdoors in style and safety.”

The judge described the gardens at the Great Island site as fascinating, “with plenty to interest everyone, whether you’re on the road, a serious horticulturalist, avid historian, or just enjoying a day out with the family ( the Fairy Village will delight the little ones) ”.
