Lil Nas X has just added the global Coach ambassador and runway model to his resume. A day before his runway debut, Coach teased a photo on Instagram of a gold grille adorned with the brand’s classic C motif and the date “September 12”. “Someone new is joining the #CoachFamily,” the caption read.
Fast forward a day later to the brand’s Spring/Summer 2023 show and the grill belonged to none other than Lil Nas X. The rapper joins other Coach family stars including Ava Max, Noah Beck, Rickey Thompson, Jennifer Lopez, Megan Thee Stallion, Michael B. Jordan, Wisdom Kaye and more.
Fans suspected the singer was joining the brand after the Instagram teaser was posted, and based on the fact that he had worked with Coach’s creative directors, Stuart Vevers, on a series of looks for his Long Live Montero world tour. However, they weren’t expecting the singer to close the heritage house parade staged Monday in front of a massive crowd at the Park Armory on the Upper East Side.
Lil Nas X modeled a black vest and matching shorts adorned with bows. The look was paired with a gold bag and Y2K-style jelly sandals. For the finale, he brought the model brigade back for a standing ovation, meeting Vevers at the end of the runway for a final salute.
“Our newest Global Ambassador shares our belief that style should be about bravely exploring all that you are,” the brand captioned an Instagram post after the show, of the new model wearing a Coach tank top, baggy jeans and a shearling coat.
