Last year, out of necessity amid the coronavirus pandemic, Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn experimented with outdoor cabaret performances.
Call the experience a success, so much so that she decided to do it again this year.
A second âBrookside Cabaretâ tour featuring live entertainment and alfresco dining at FM Kirby Carriage House restaurant will raise its curtain on Wednesday, June 9 and continue weekly throughout the summer.
“When we launched Brookside Cabaret last summer, we just wanted to bring the live performances back to Paper Mill in any way we could – and to our delight, the series was a huge hit with audiences and artists.” , said Paper Mill, artistic producer. director Mark S. The series, which runs at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, kicks off June 9 and 10 with cabaret veteran duo Susan Speidel and Joe Regan, who starred at the very first show last year. They will return for a second visit from August 18 to 21.
Also scheduled are Gavin Lee (June 11-12), Kelli Rabke (June 16-19), Rema Webb (June 23-26), Alexander Kariotis (June 30-July 3), The Playbillies (July 7-10), Jenna Pastuszek (July 14-17), Kathryn Allison (July 21-24), Elena Shaddow (July 28-31), Marieann Meringolo (August 4-7), Elizabeth Ward Land (August 11-14), Dion Simmons Grier (25 -28 August), Angela Birchett (8-11 September), Andrew Kober (15-16 September), Kyle Taylor Parker (17-18 September) and Nicholas Rodriguez (22-25 September), with more artists to announce.
This year will also mark the debut of the new menu from Carriage House Restaurant Chef Jacques Marra, a longtime Maplewood resident who previously served as Chef at the Metropolitan Opera House for 13 years.
Seating at Brookside is $ 25 on Wednesdays and Thursdays, $ 35 on Fridays and Saturdays, plus a minimum of $ 30 of food and drink per person from a prix fixe menu. Side view seats cost $ 25 plus a minimum of $ 20 of food and drink per person from a small plate menu. One must reserve.
Cabaret shows are subject to weather, with rainy dates on Sunday evenings.
