Parades, auctions and more this weekend

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – If you’re wondering what to do and where to go, look no further! There are several events taking place in Lubbock this weekend and you won’t want to miss any.

  • To begin with, the 6th annual Los Hermanos Familia Veterans Parade will take place on Saturday, November 6. The route begins at the First Baptist Church on Broadway and ends at the parking lot of the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. This year’s theme is “Honoring All Who Have Served” and it honors veterans as well as all who served in Lubbock and surrounding communities.   • The day has come for the 1st Annual Cook’s Rodeo Days Parade, led by horses, carriages and rodeo competitors! The line-up starts at 9 a.m. and the parade begins at 10 a.m. in the East Parking Lot of Cooper High School and ends at the Cook Garage. Horses, mules, miniature horses, ponies and draft horses are welcome, but they must have current Coggins papers.
    • Immediately after the parade, the morning of the Cook’s Rodeo Days will take place at 1 p.m. with a large open entrance. Judges will hand out cash prizes (up to $ 300) for riding clubs and the best rodeo-themed entry including floats, groups, cars, and more.

  • After the parades, you can head to the 2nd Annual Lubbock Children’s Trade Fair, where local talent aged 6-18 will take to 30 vendor booths in the Science Spectrum showroom. The event will take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Everything from handmade jewelry and hair accessories, to handmade soaps, greeting cards and more will be on sale at this one-day market. There is no entrance fee, but children’s vendors will only accept cash purchases during the event. To learn more about this, click here.

  • Have an enjoyable evening attending the 4th Annual Art of Freedom Art Sale and Auction, held at the Texas Tech Frazier Alumni Pavilion on Saturday, November 6, between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. The art exhibit is for a good cause, as it helps sex survivors between the ages of 12 and 23 receive the care they need, tailored to their healing journey to help them realize their potential.   • You can end the evening by attending “Fist Full of Dollars Saloon and Gambling Hall”, a casino night hosted by the Lubbock Auto Action Charity Foundation. The event begins at 6 p.m. at the FiberMax Center for Discovery (1121 Canyon Lake Drive). The game will take place between 6.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. price tracking and live auction. This year, he is supporting the Lubbock Community Health Center as well as the UMC Southwest Cancer Center and is receiving an endowment for scholarships, snack programs, school supplies and other organizations in the Greater Lubbock area.
