Renovations complete at Carriage House at Charles H. Best Diabetes Center

After several months of construction, renovations were completed at the Carriage House at Charles H. Best Center.

The Best Center announced renovation plans last year, with construction starting at the end of 2020.

“We expect patient demand to double over the next five years,” said Lorrie Hagen, Executive Director of the Charles H. Best Diabetes Center. “Expanding the center is a necessity to ensure that no one with type 1 diabetes is turned away; the need is now.

Staff are still trying to raise funds to expand the current site.

“While we haven’t yet reached our campaign target, we felt it was important to do this first renovation to make sure we can support our patients,” Hagen said.

The existing Carriage House has been converted into office space for four displaced workers.

Phases 1 and 2 of the expansion will include the construction of a new reception and reception area, connecting the two structures.

“We were able to complete the renovations to the Carriage House using existing funds,” said Serge Babin, Chairman of the Board of Charles H. Best Diabetes Center. “It wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our community, volunteers and donors. We are still working hard to reach our Building on the Best campaign goal of $ 5 million to complete the remaining phases of Best Center renovations.
