Teen charged with fatal shooting of 16-year-old in Amelia County | Crime News

A 17-year-old man has been charged with intentional homicide in the shooting death of a 16-year-old man earlier this month at Amelia Court House.

The Amelia County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Tuesday that it received a 911 call for an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound around 9:44 p.m. July 2.

Deputies for the 4000 block of Richmond Road found a 16-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. They provided medical aid, but the victim died at the scene, police said.

The 17-year-old is also charged with firing firearms or missiles into or at a building or dwelling house; use of a firearm in the commission of a crime; and providing false information during a criminal investigation.
