The Ontario County Historical Society’s Garden Tour to be held in 2021

CANANDAIGUA, NY – The Ontario County Historical Society’s third annual garden tour takes place on Saturday, July 17 and will feature six locations this year.

The tour includes three private gardens as well as the gardens of the Granger Homestead and Carriage Museum, New York Kitchen, and the historic Morgan Samuels Inn & Venue.

The tour will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Guests are welcome to stroll through the gardens and chat with the guides and owners about the plantings and concepts for each garden. All addresses will be provided in a color booklet with ticket and on GPS for a self-guided car tour.

Restrooms will be available at Granger Homestead, New York Kitchen, and the Ontario County Historical Society.

The Historical Society worked with members of the Sonnenberg Garden Club and the Ontario County Arts Council to find and select the gardens. Organizers say the tour is a great event for those who love gardening and looking for gardening inspiration or for those looking for a little outdoor adventure.

In addition to the gardens, Granger Homestead is inviting visitors inside the shed as part of the tour this year. Refreshments will be available for purchase, with all proceeds going to the Ontario County Historical Society.

Cody Grabhorn, who was welcomed in June as the new executive director, said the garden tour “really helps the Ontario County Historical Society to remain a free-entry organization, and therefore an accessible organization. The money raised through events like this really makes a difference in small communities like ours and making a positive difference is what we want this organization to do. ”

For example, the Historical Society offers exhibits like “Our Family Companion: A History of Pets in Ontario County” and a variety of programs for children and adults throughout the year.

Tickets are on sale now to see the gardens of the historic Morgan Samuels Inn & Venue and other sites on the third annual OCHS Gardens Tour.

“Plus some of these gardens are hidden gems within our community,” said Grabhorn. “You won’t want to miss seeing them.”

Tickets for the tour are available for sale on the Ontario County Historical Society website at, The Renaissance Goodie II Shop, Wildflowers boutique and Canandaigua National Bank (Main Street and Lakeshore Drive branches in Canandaigua) . The cost is $ 25 each.

New York City cuisine will be on display as part of the Ontario County Historical Society Garden Tour, taking place on Saturday, July 17.

Online ticket sales will continue until July 15 and tickets can be picked up at OCHS from July 9. Tickets will also be available on the day of the event at OCHS, subject to availability.

The Ontario County Historical Society Museum and Research Center is located at 55 N. Main St.

The Carriage House will be a special stop on the Ontario County Historical Society Gardens Tour.
